Tipping Our Hats: Julie Borowski
Tipping Our Hat is about celebrating the women of the world who find their way and make their own luck with the kind of charm that can’t be implanted, airbrushed, scripted or sullied by the bastardised ideas and imagery of women we face on a daily basis. It’s where we celebrate the talent, ethic, intelligence, ingenuity and idiosyncrasy of the women that proverbially turn our heads and steal our hearts.
Most commonly recognised for her hilarious and incisive diatribes formerly known as ‘Token Libertarian Girl’ on Youtube, Julie Borowski is a political commentator that takes no prisoners and pulls no punches in her quest to undermine the state and celebrate personal liberty, dignity and responsibility. Borowski is a personal favourite at Wristwatches and Radios for her intellect, her moral coherence and her engagement with questions and issues that are rarely discussed with such candour and clarity.
With well over 100 videos and 5.5 million views, she tackles everything from US presidential candidates to modern debates around education, gun control, health care, military interventionism and the surveillance state. Furthermore, Borowski is utterly refreshing for her playful and incendiary mockery of conservatives and liberals alike, picking apart the inconsistency and outright hypocrisy that plague both sides of partisan politics. It’s also worth noting that the libertarian movement itself (and its most popular figureheads) are lined up for the occasional tongue in cheek satire.
Having worked as an Economic Policy and Research Intern, later promoted to a Policy Analyst at Freedomworks, a conservative/libertarian advocacy group in DC since 2010, Borowski has recently stepped away to focus on her own project. Tagged as Politics, Culture, Weirdness, JulieBorowski.com is a fantastic site brimming with her inimitable brand of observation, analysis and hilarity, and we encourage one and all to check it out and get to know this incredibly astute, articulate and unrelenting young woman.
Julie Borowski, we tip our hats and wish you all the best with the site and all that lays ahead.
